Q:Who are your favorite K-Pop idols and artists?
A:BIGBANG is always and forever my #1. Other groups may come close, but these fantastic babies will never be de-throned… from my heart… Yeah I went there.
Q:How did you enter into K-Pop?
A:I was into K-Dramas first, and from there was aware of K-Pop, but didn’t really find it that great until I heard a few songs by BIGBANG and 2NE1. I’ve been hooked ever since!
Q:How is the K-Pop culture like around you? Are you alone in this fandom, or is there a significant K-Pop community where you live?
A:I have a few friends with whom I can share my fangirl love, but for the most part it’s a lonely fandom, as most of you AKPF’s know… #emoticon
Q:Who/what are your other favorite artists and musicians outside of K-Pop?
A:When I’m not listening to K-Pop, I like singer-songwriters, and old sad bastard music. Sondre Lerche, Alexi Murdoch, and Jackson Browne are a few of my favorites. I also occasionally listen to good country music (emphasis on good, ie George Strait’s “Pure Country” era)

Q:Who are your favorite K-Pop idols and artists?
A:That would have to go to Epik High, 2NE1, DBSK, Big Bang, FT Island, SHINee, Lee Seung Hwan, Clazziquai Project and B2ST.
Q:How did you enter into K-Pop?
A:I wasn’t aware of Kpop at the time, but I totally used BoA’s ‘Eat U Up’ on my music player on MySpace way back when that was cool. Then in 2009, I just so happened to click on a YouTube video of 2NE1 performing Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ which lead to several other clicks of their performances and I was eventually hooked. I wont lie, Sandara’s pineapple-tree hair was a big deciding factor for me. WHAT.
Q:How is the K-Pop culture like around you? Are you alone in this fandom, or is there a significant K-Pop community where you live?
A:I don’t know about a significant community, but I know for sure that there are a handful of K-Pop addicts all up in Austin. I just have to find them.
Q:Who/what are your other favorite artists and musicians outside of K-Pop?
A: Definitely Pet Shop Boys, Belanova, Gwen Stefani, Mika, Monica Naranjo, Robyn, M.I.A., Rocio Durcal and Jose Jose.

Q:Who are your favorite K-Pop idols and artists?
A:My absolute favorite Kpop artists are Rain, Shinee, and Big Bang, especially GD as a solo artist and GD & TOP. I do also enjoy other groups, such as Infinite, Teen Top, Jay Park, some 2NE1, as well as others.
Q:How did you enter into K-Pop?
A:I got into Kpop by way of Rain. I watched “Ninja Assassin” one day 2 years ago and was instantly smitten, decided to Google him, and was shocked and enthralled. I had never realized there was this huge cultural phenomenon that I had been missing out on… Needless to say I ended up being sucked into this never ending vortex of “Kpop-is-so-interesting!!!” I thought I might lose interest but nope… I’m still here, blogging about it and stuff.
Q:How is the K-Pop culture like around you? Are you alone in this fandom, or is there a significant K-Pop community where you live?
A:I live in New Jersey and there’s a large Korean community that is mostly based out of Northern New Jersey, along with a big Korean community in New York. They do tend to be pretty insular, though. I’ve made more Kpop friends on the net that reside around the world and in neighboring states than I have in person. I have managed to meet some fellow Rain fans in person and I intend to hang out with them again. I’m sure I’ll see some of them when I attend the Big Bang concert in October.
Q:Who/what are your other favorite artists and musicians outside of K-Pop?
A:That is a pretty big list, since I’m into all types of genres, but my main focus has always mostly been alternative of some sort. I have been a music junkie since I was little and have amassed quite a collection of favorites. Some absolute faves are Depeche Mode, Sia, Adele, Massive Attack, Gnarls Barkley, Nine Inch Nails, Zero 7, etc. Recently, when I’m not listening to Kpop, I’m listening to a lot of house/dub step/drum n bass/electronica like MSTRKRFT, Nero, M.I.A., etc.

Q:Who are your favorite K-Pop idols and artists?
A:My favorite group, my biggest bias, my #1 is Big Bang! (With my favorite member being T.O.P) Everything about them, and everything they do is top notch! They have stage presence, and charisma, and talent! #2 is definitely 2ne1 (favorite member, CL). I love their swagger, and their stage presence. What I love most is CL’s “force to be reckoned with” personality.

These two are my absolute favorites but I like artists like Untouchable, Supreme Team, ZiA, LeeSsang, SG Wannabe, Fly to the Sky, 8eight, and WAY WAY MORE!

Q:How did you enter into K-Pop?
A:In 9th grade (2006) my friend showed me a few MVs, and after seeing T.O.P in Red Roc’s “Hello” I was sold.
Q:How is the K-Pop culture like around you? Are you alone in this fandom, or is there a significant K-Pop community where you live?
A:It sucks. I know there are tons of fans in NYC, but not many of my friends are fellow fans so I started my blog to find people who love to talk about it, watch it, enjoy it, etc.
Q:Who/what are your other favorite artists and musicians outside of K-Pop?
A:Outside of Kpop I like to listen to Pixie Lott, Beyoncé, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears, Far * East Movement, and plenty more.

Q:Who are your favorite K-Pop idols and artists?
A:Oh, this is a tough one. See, I started with Big Bang and from them I was introduced to 2NE1. But I really enjoy NU’EST and Exo as well! So, I guess I’d have to say they rank:
1- Big Bang
2- 2NE1
3- Exo-K
4- NU’EST (But I have a feeling NU’EST will move up once they release more songs!)
Q:How did you enter into K-Pop?
A:Actually, my friend introduced me to Korean Dramas while I was in college as something to watch/ have on in the background while doing homework. I know, weird, right? But I started to really enjoy them, and eventually I watched Dream High. I thought “Oh, this is really cool! I wonder if there are any more shows like this.” Enter What’s Up! Vol 1. I fell in love with this one character from the very first episode. He was shy and adorable and had an amazing voice, plus I really did think he was one of the most gorgeous guys on the cast. That guy? Daesung. I almost blew a gasket when I found out he was actually part of a band! So I looked up Big Bang on youtube, saw Beautiful Hangover, and have been hooked ever since.
Q:How is the K-Pop culture like around you? Are you alone in this fandom, or is there a significant K-Pop community where you live?
A: I actually am alone when it comes to K-Pop. Well, I am physically alone, but through K-Pop I have met so many people from all over the world that it doesn’t really feel like I’m “alone in this fandom”. Instead, it feels like all of my friends just happen to have sleeping schedules that are much different from mine. Thanks to the interwebs, I am able to keep in touch with all of them, as well as being able to meet more and more K-Pop friends every day.
Q:Who/what are your other favorite artists and musicians outside of K-Pop?
A:Ah, another tough question. I like a wide variety of music. From Rap to musicals to rock. So I guess my favorites are:
Linkin Park
Adele
3OH3!
Hollywood Undead
Frank Turner
and last but CERTAINLY not least: P!nk

Q:Who are your favorite K-Pop idols and artists?
A:my favourite K-Pop acts are Girls’ Gemeration, T-ara, Nine Muses, f(x) and SHINee.
Q:How did you enter into K-Pop?
A: I became a K-Pop after hearing Gee by chance on YouTube but didn’t succumb to that hook?
Q:How is the K-Pop culture like around you? Are you alone in this fandom, or is there a significant K-Pop community where you live?
A:K-Pop culture does not exist in Northern Ireland on any level from what I have seen.
Q:Who/what are your other favorite artists and musicians outside of K-Pop?
A: I was previously a Lady Gaga fan as well as having an interest in bands like Marilyn Manson and Mindless Self Indulgence and although I listen to mainly Korean music, I still make a conscious effort to keep up to date with the latest in Western pop culture.

Get To Know Milagros

When she’s not sending resumes out or perfecting her translation skills, Milagros can be found doing one or more of the following:

- watching k-dramas (with the occasional j-drama, ch-drama or tw-drama thrown in for good measure)
- reading up on Asian anything. History (because she’s a nerd) and pop culture mostly.
- cross-stitching therapy
- playing with her cats. She’s not afraid of becoming the quintessential cat lady.

Q:Who are your favorite K-Pop idols and artists?
A:By now, everyone who knows me in any way is fully aware of my love for Big Bang and its unhealthy levels. Others that are known to pop up between Big Bang songs on my playlists are: PSY (even before the Gangnam Style craze), CNBlue, FT Island, Super Junior, SHINee, B.A.P., Dalmatian, LEDapple, 2AM, MBLAQ, and most recently Phantom. What, no girls? f(x) and 2NE1 get more play time than others.
Q:How did you enter into K-Pop?
A:As many who are into the Asian entertainment world, I started with j-pop and j-rock thanks to anime. Then the (now defunct) International Channel happened and they showed kpop mv’s. Saw Rain and it poured.
Q:How is the K-Pop culture like around you? Are you alone in this fandom, or is there a significant K-Pop community where you live?
A:For years I totally felt alone except for a few souls around me that I tried to ‘convert’ and those I’ve talked to through online means. Then I moved to Puerto Rico and felt even more alone. HA, I was wrong, very wrong. Thanks to soompi where I saw a blurb mentioning that kpop was playing on a local radio station(SAY WHA?!), I went on a hunt and found tons of groups on Facebook for fans in PR. I no longer felt alone.
Q:Who/what are your other favorite artists and musicians outside of K-Pop?
A:There’s music outside of kpop? I kid. I don’t really pay attention to much English/Spanish music and haven’t for years, but I do try to keep up some. I’m still loyal to my loves in the Japanese music arena. Suga Shikao, Buck Tick, L’arc en ciel, X Japan, Nightmare, Sugizo, and many others, primarily j-rock. I’m also a sucker for musical theater. Play me some Broadway and I’m happy to sing along (badly).
