Jay Park’s “Metronome” MV ft. Simon D and Gray

Jay Park’s “Metronome” MV ft. Simon D and Gray

Jay Park‘s new music video for “Metronome” is so boring that I had more fun reading the Wikipedia page of that clickity clackity ball thing than I did watching it. And let’s be honest. The clickity clackity ball thing is the star of the show. Jay Park and co. are just supporting players. We can all agree it’s a neat little device. Amusing to be sure. But I’m really reaching to figure out what the creative meeting looked like when they decided that the main visual of the 20140411 jay park metronome mvMV would be a staple from corner offices the world over.

I did some Googling and here is a sampling of the different names this thing is referred to as…

Newton’s Cradle
Newton’s Balls
Collision Balls
Executive Ball Clicker

The thing about the song is, I might have really liked it had I heard the audio first, but the visuals in the MV are just. so. boring. Same colors, same lighting, same set, same swinging balls. And no dancing. I want to watch Jay Park dance, dammit!

Jay really does have so much potential to be great. I like Jay Park. I want to see him do well. I want to see him succeed. Maybe that’s why I’m so critical when he doesn’t quite deliver.

What did you guys think of the video? Is it actually really great and I’m just too distracted by Newton’s Balls? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
