September is all about fashion here on American Kpop Fans as we hold K-Swag Fashion Month in honor of New York Fashion Week.
On Friday September 7th at Lincoln Center in New York City, Concept Korea made its 5th appearance at New York Fashion Week to showcase their Fall 2013 collection.
After struggling to bring international attention to Korean fashion through Seoul Fashion Week, the Culture Ministry created Concept Korea 6 years ago, as a way to bring Korean fashion to the world.
Concept Korea is made up of 5 Korean designers, Kim Hongbum of Cres. E Dim Kathleen, Son Jung Wan, Lie Sang Bong, Choi Bo Ko of Choiboko, and Kye of Kye, (from Left to Right on the picture above). Simon Collins, Dean of Fashion at Parsons The New School for Design, Colleen Sherin, Fashion Director of Saks Fifth Avenue, Jane Page, VP of Wholesale at Balenciaga, Carol Song, Head Buyer at Opening Ceremony, and stylist Phillip Bloch handpicked these designers to represent Korea in the fashion world on a global platform.
The theme of Concept Korea’s runway show was “Five Korean Traditional Colors.” Each designer interpreter one of the five natural elements, metal, wood, water, fire, and earth using red to symbolize fire; black for water; blue for wood; white for iron or metal; and yellow to represent earth.

In this collection you’ll see a some of the tattoo illusion stocking we’ve seen idols like f(x)’s Victoria , and Wonder Girls’ Sohee wearing lately, showing perhaps a bit influence from Kpop culture.
