In an appearance in SBS‘s Late Night TV Entertainment on August 29, PSY explained the origins of the “horse dance”. It was created at a celebration party after a concert. He stated that occasionally, he gives the back-up dancers the chance to perform their own styles and the winner is given a prize. PSY did not mention what the prize was this time around.
I think this dance is very unique, so we taped it and gave a prize to the person who created this dance.
He expressed surprise at the fact that Gangnam Style has become such a worldwide phenomenon.
There are so many hot guys out there, but not many like me with this nerdy style.
So there are two things we learned from PSY’s interview:
1- A back-up dancer created the best dance craze this side of the Macarena and the Waka-waka.
2- There is proof that there are two kinds of k-pop idols in Korea: young, hot with abs of steel and PSY.
