La Shauna here, back with the 2nd edition of Fashion Spotlight. I’m so sorry it’s been a while since we learned about Seo In Young (catch up on parts one and two), but let’s dive right in with a brand new starlet!
Today we turn our spotlight on Seo Hyo Rim.
Actress Seo Hyo Rim is one of Korea’s hottest upcoming actress. She gained a lot of popularity after her role as the rich bitch on “Scent of a Woman.” I wouldn’t say she is known for her fashion sense but she has the potential to be a major style icon.
2010 MNet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)
Hands down this is the best Seo Hyo Rim has ever looked. Seo Hyo Rim has a very thin, and straight figure, but this dress created curves, and made her look taller.
The color is great with her skin tone, and her hair is perfection. The minimal jewelry was another great choice. I love everything about this look.
24th Golden Disk Awards
This was not a good look for Seo Hyo Rim. The drop waist made her upper body look longer, thereby shortening her leg-line and giving her a weird proportion. And the big ruffles and layers at the bottom of the dress kind of swallow her.
Her hairdo was very weird, not only did it not go with what she was wearing but it makes her face look rounder ait is.
This wasn’t a flattering look for her at all. That dress was wearing her, not the other way around.
‘Scent of a Woman’ Press Conference
The biggest problem with this outfit lies with her hair. The extensions she is wearing are so noticeable, and that’s all my eyes can focus on. Her hair is too big, and the cropped style looks messy.
When I can finally drag my eyes away from the mess going on at her head, they fall to the black lace mini dress. I don’t hate it but its another mismatched piece of the puzzle. If her hair was pulled back, and she wore different shoes the dress would look much better.
The saving grace for this outfit could have been those killer black and gold heels. They’re the best looking piece of her outfit but all the bad going on above it keeps the shoes from looking good.
2011 SBS Drama Awards
This is one of Seo Hyo Rim’s truly great looks. Like at the “Scent of a Woman” press conference she wore a black and nude lace dress. This look however this was much better. The dress is tailored to her body very well, and it gives her a nice shape, plus it gives her more curves. The pale pink under the black lace is a nice color for her skin tone compared to the cream/white color she had at the “Scent of a Woman” press conference.
Event hough I love the dress on her, I feel like her hair was a bit plain, and a little mess. If she had let her hair out, wavy it would look better for this dress. However, since she has her hair pulled back her neck looks pretty bare so she could have put on a simple silver necklace.
21st Seoul Music Awards
Seo Hyo Rim looks nice in this dress, there is nothing that’s horrible about it, but was a bit ‘Plain Jane’ as a whole. First she wore no jewelry, and though she was right not to wear a necklace she should have worn a bangle or two or even a ring. Then her hair was really blah. With all that was going on at her neck with the dress she should have pulled her hair back.
I don’t love this as much as her MAMA awards look, but I don’t hate it, it was just plain.
‘Desire to Kill’ Premiere
First let me say, I love this dress on her. Its a great color, great length, and it just really suits her. The problem lies with her shoes. Its kind of trippy that her shoes match her hair so well, and I don’t think I like it. Besides the fact that they match her hair perfectly, these were a bad choice because of the ankle straps. They cut her leg line and make her look shorter than she is. A better choice would have been black pumps, with silver accents.
I am on the fence with her hair. I like it, but then it also looks weird for her to have the end tied up. Maybe if she didn’t have it in a ponytail, but kept it over her shoulder, it would look better.
Seo Hyo Rim’s Strong Points
Seo Hyo Rim is a tall, and thin woman with not much curve, but she has shown that she understands what to wear to create curves, and even more height for herself. Aside from being able to choose the right shaped dresses, she is great at picking colors that go well with her skin tone. She found something great with nude tones, and should take advantage of that.
