One of the most anticipated dramas of the fall, by me at least, has finally premiered. Faith, starring Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun, premiered on August 13 and airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:55pm KST. Within 24 hours of the premier, dramafever.com, a completely free and legal Asian drama site (think K-Drama equivalent of Hulu), has managed to get it uploaded and subbed. I honestly can’t tell you what I think since I am still in the process of watching it myself, but so far it seems to have potential.
First off, the story is set in the Goryeo era instead of the Joseon, which is interesting and gives it a different feel from the beginning. Lee Min Ho stars as Choi Young, a young, sarcastic, and genius warrior, while Kim Hee Sun is Yoo Eun Soo, a modern day plastic surgeon who is drug from her everyday life into the past. This show should be an interesting watch, for a couple different reasons. One- It has a slight Iljimae feel with some of the exaggerated choreographed fighting and the use of technology that I didn’t know existed at that time, such as glow in the dark paint. Two- There is only one thing I am iffy about, so far, and that is the fact that there are characters who have super powers. I don’t want to give too much away, but I think it is safe to say that this is not going to be your average historical drama.
I will put up a real review once I’ve had a chance to watch both episode 1 and episode 2 (which has already aired but isn’t subbed yet). But until then, what do you think? Have you had a chance to watch it yet?
