Yep, this is still happening. David Lehre aka Chad Future decided that while Korea is scrambling to gain legitimacy by collaborating with American artists, singing in English, and basically being more international, he’s going to go the opposite direction. He’s going to limit his potential audience by releasing a song in Korean. And I’m no expert, but I can’t imagine that his Korean is stellar… so not only will English speakers be unlikely to respond, but most Koreans probably won’t be interested either.
Hmm… Brilliant plan dude.
I mean, other than the obvious marketing flaws in his upcoming debut… he just doesn’t seem like he’s that great.
BUUUUUUUUT let’s not get ahead of ourselves. He may very well be a k-pop crossover phenom– bwahahahahaha okay I couldn’t even get that out. There’s no way he’ll be a crossover phenomenon, but maybe he’s not as terrible as I’ve built him up to be in my head. Plus he seems like a super sweet guy so I’ll try to keep an open mind when the video finally drops.
What do YOU think of the teaser? And more importantly, what do you think of an American singer attempting a debut in this manner?
