Do You Remember The Time – G-Dragon Edition

Yes. I am a VIP. A proud VIP. And I love me some T.O.P. — just like most AKPFs with blood running through their veins surely do too — but I cannot deny the sheer genius of G-Dragon. The kid is talented and his swag is off the charts. I remember when I first saw him in the “High High” video (mind you I discovered GD&TOP before I realized who Big Bang was), I looked at my friend Chris and said “Who is this little dude with the afro perm?” and then as I kept watching, all the while transfixed by T.O.P’s male beauty, I kept noticing GD’s swag, his presence, his flow (SICK) and he made me an instant fan. And then his solo album. Just WOW. This guy is surely on the path to legendary status.

And then one day a couple of weeks ago I discovered this little gem:

A 6 year old G-Dragon?!?!?!  how cccyyyuuutteee!!! those little cheeks! I mean, who knew?? I surely didn’t. And I’m mad I was tardy for the party, to be quite honest. I had to have more and that’s when I found “My Age is 13″.

Stop the presses. I knew he had been in the game for awhile but little Kwon Ji Yong has been MURDERING the game for years!!! To me most child rappers don’t have the complexity and depth that GD was puttin down (at 13yo no less)..he was already so raw & possessed the natural talent and charisma to ensure he could and would go far. What other little kid do you know that could hold his own with so many rap veterans like Perry, Sean (from Jinusean), and Masta Wu as if he’d been rapping since he could talk?  Check him out doin his signature line “Gureumeul Gareugo Dagaon G Dragon” and lookin like a little badass in “Storm”.

After seeing all this, I gained a newfound respect for GD and his artistry and how far he’s come to become one of the biggest stars in all of Korean entertainment. Now I can truly say I understand the message of “A-Yo” & how much his career and music certainly mean to him.  It’s just so hard to believe sometimes that someone the same age as me (and a fellow leo too ….heeeeyyy!) could have accomplished so much in his young 23 years.  So Yes, G-Dragon …. we remember you back in the day …. and we welcome the many many years to come of your certifiable musical brilliance.
