Big Bang’s T.O.P. cast in new movie, “Alumni”

Many Big Bang fans were wondering what exactly the band members would be doing during their two month hiatus. Well, it was announced that T.O.P. would be using that time to film for his upcoming movie Alumni.

For quite some time, there were rumors floating around – was T.O.P. being considered for the role? Was he even interested? Did he have the time? Just recently he confirmed that not only was he considering the role, but he had finally accepted it and would begin filming in July. It was announced that he will be playing the maincharacter, Myung-Hoon, the son of a North Korean spy who enrolls in high-school in South Korea in order to protect his little sister. Jo Sung Ha will be portraying Myung-Hoon’s father, said North Korean spy, who has apparently been killed under false pretenses.

And then, just yesterday, even more names were added to the cast list. The part of Myung-Hoon’s kidnapped little sister will be portrayed by Kim Yoo Jung, an up and coming young actress who has confessed to being an avid Big Bang fan. One can only imagine the amount of fangirling that went on in her household when she received the news. Also announced was the actress who would be playing the love interest of Myung-Hoon: Han Ye Ri. She will be portraying a troubled high school girl Myung-Hoon eventually falls in love with.

It is interesting to note that both main characters are high schoolers, yet are being played by actors in their mid to late twenties. This is nothing new to Americans though, who have seen actors in their early and mid-twenties portraying high schoolers since the days of The Breakfast Club, ala 26 year old Judd Nelsen playing 18 year old John Bender.

So rather than worrying about whether these two actors will be able to portray high schoolers well, let us instead focus on the important issues. How will this movie portray the North-South conflict? Will T.O.P. have a kissing scene? Is it possible for Kim Yoo Jung be able to continue her rise to fame? Will T.O.P. have a shirtless scene? Should we expect an action laced romantic film or a romance laced action film? These are the questions we, as K-Pop fans, need to be asking ourselves as we wait on filming for this upcoming movie to being.

What are you feelings on the little known plot?  Does this seem like a movie that might interest you? Leave a comment below and let us know!
